Summer Events
Partnerships Provide Enhanced Summer Programming
As part of our iniative to reach out to neighborhood institutions and enhance our programming capabilities, we have developed a summer series for the park in partnership with the Turtle Bay Music School and Vanderbilt YMCA.
The theme for the series is Healthy Bodies, Healthy Planet, which is a good fit with out commitment to be an environmentally conscious organization.
Brazilian Drumming Workshop
Wed. July 1, 1 PM (rain date: Wed. July 22)
Experience the fun of playing percussion instruments with instructors from the Turtle Bay Music School. Any age can play, so join us.
Greenmarket Musical Picnic
Wed. July 15, 12 Noon to 1 PM, (rain date: Wed. July 22)
A short musical theatre performance by teens from the Y accompanied by demos on food prep for nutritious snacks and farm-fresh goodies.
African Dance and Story Night
Thurs. July 30, 5 PM to 7 PM (rain: event moves to Vanderbilt Y)
Earthy rhythms and magical tales. Discover some new dance moves!
Peacefest/Cultural Theatre
Tues. August 11, 5 PM to 7 PM (rain date: Thurs. August 13)
Bring your family and friends to this community love fest. The spirit of the 60s returns with an uplifting performance by Vanderbilt Y teens, followed by a live band. Wear your tie-dyes, peasant blouses, T-shirts and sandals.
Family Carnival
Tues. August 25, 5 PM to 8 PM (rain date: Wed. August 26)
Celebrate nature with a children's musical concert accompanied by games and learning activities. Vanderbilt Y instructors will keep the kids busy while adults get to sit back and enjoy an evening in the park.
